Subject
The course introduces the concepts of lifelong learning, vocational training and the learning organization. These concepts are framed by the respective methodological practices and examples. Students gain both theoretical and practical knowledge in order to understand the complexity of the terms learning and business knowledge in modern economies.
Content:
- Vocational education and training, basic concepts - historical development
- Skills and vocational training
- The role of adult educator
- Goal setting ,lesson planning, teaching, evaluation, certification of the educational process - Example of micro-teaching
- Human resource development and the role of the learning organization
- Characteristics of workplace environment as learning environment
- Theory and definition for knowledge management
- Explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge.
- Conditions for Organizational Knowledge Creation.
- Practices for creation and dissemination of knowledge
- Models for strategic planning of knowledge management
Educational Aims
The aim of the course is to present the basic principles and the development of the field of vocational education and training as well as the theoretical and practical dimensions of the learning processes in the workplace and knowledge management.
By the end of the course students will be able to obtain specialized competencies and knowledge in order to be able to:
- Understand the concepts of vocational education and vocational training and relate them to the broader concepts of continuing education and training and lifelong learning.
- Identify the importance of vocational training in modern knowledge economies and the link between competences development and labor market change.
- To acquire the basic skills of adult educator
- Recognize the need for business knowledge as to create a competitive advantage in the business environment
- Understand the methodological and practical aspects on knowledge management
- Be able to present action plans for knowledge management
- To organize knowledge management strategies
Student Evaluation
Written examination after the end of the semester (100%) including:
- Multiple-choice questions
- Short-answer questions
- Open(-ended) questions
